Notre première récolte plantée à L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

Our first harvest planted in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

Harvesting our organic barley: a big step towards our local craft whisky! 🥃

😊 An unforgettable moment this morning when the combine harvester arrived on our 5-hectare plot of barley sown last December! After months of waiting, we are finally ready to move on to the next stage of making our French whisky.

🙌 Today marks the long-awaited harvest of our organic barley, carefully cultivated in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. This essential ingredient will soon be used to produce our artisanal whisky, a beverage that reflects the values of quality, authenticity, and respect for the environment.

Why is organic barley so important in making quality whisky?

Barley is one of the essential components in whisky production. Choosing organic, locally grown barley not only guarantees a superior product but also a reduced environmental footprint. By choosing organic farming, we avoid the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, which helps preserve soil biodiversity and respect the environment.

Furthermore, the purity of organic barley plays a crucial role in the final taste of the whisky. A craft whisky made from organic barley is often richer in aromas, more authentic, and fully reflects the terroir in which it was grown. This is what we are looking for: a French whisky that embodies both tradition and innovation.

👍 A successful first attempt ! In partnership with the La Ricarde Professional Agricultural School, we are particularly pleased with this first harvest. The quantities are there, and the quality of the barley is excellent, promising a whisky with subtle and balanced flavors.

🎯 Next step: malting . After harvest, our organic barley will be carefully stored in optimal conditions before being malted. This technical process, essential for transforming barley into whisky, will be entrusted to an artisanal maltster in the Drôme region. This traditional know-how ensures that each grain of barley is treated with care to extract the best from it.

We look forward to sharing with you the next steps in this wonderful adventure towards creating our local artisanal whisky , a 100% French product, rooted in Provence.
