Why create our distillery a stone's throw from Isle-sur-la-Sorgue?
May 17, 2024
❓ Where will our distillery be located?
Our distillery project took shape in 2020, and from the very beginning, it was clear to us that it had to be located in Vaucluse, a region where we have lived and worked for several years. This choice was a natural one due to the many assets of this region.
Vaucluse is a popular tourist destination, with renowned towns like Avignon and L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, famous for its antique shops. These towns, steeped in history and heritage, embody local craftsmanship and industry, notably through the famous paddle wheels of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Le Thor, which date back to the 19th century. This powerful symbol of the region inspired us throughout our research.
🌞 Why choose this region to establish our distillery?
The choice to establish ourselves in the heart of Provence was also with the aim of sharing our passion with a wide audience of enthusiasts, neophytes or curious people eager to discover know-how during the many guided tours offered within our distillery. Offering an activity aimed at the greatest number and enriching the offer of outings between Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Le Thor was a pillar of our project.
⚙️ What were the technical and environmental challenges to overcome?
Creating a distillery involves addressing numerous technical and environmental constraints. We quickly realized we needed to start from scratch to design an environmentally friendly project that met the requirements of our production. This led us to spend a long time searching for the ideal location.
🕵️ Where did you find this ideal place?
After months of painstaking research, we finally found the perfect location in 2022: a plot of land in Le Thor, a charming town nestled along the banks of the Sorgue River. This location stands out for its natural setting and commitment to sustainability.
🌿 Why did you choose the ZAC Saint-Joseph?
Our distillery will be located in the Saint-Joseph Concerted Development Zone (ZAC), a site renowned for its environmental impact. This area has been awarded the “Parc +” label by the Regional Agency for Biodiversity and the Environment, underscoring its commitment to sustainable environmental management. For us, this was an essential criterion, as we want our distillery to be not only innovative, but also respectful of local ecosystems.
In conclusion, the decision to locate our distillery near L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and more specifically in Le Thor, is the result of many months of careful consideration. This choice combines a rich local heritage, inspiration drawn from the region's industrial history, and a modern, environmentally friendly approach.
